A nosy storybook pair peers out from behind the blinds, faces lit with the holy glow of someone else's business. It passes for neighbourly concern. It is, in fact, the oldest sacrament on the street, observed daily and with notes.

Scripture says love thy neighbour. The Adversary adds a small footnote: keep a ledger. Tally the unmowed lawn, the overflowing bins, the car that arrives at 2 a.m. Cast the first stone and he'll hand you a second, already warmed. Loving your neighbour is so much easier with a complete dossier.
